Job summary

Granite Hills Hospital in Wisconsin is seeking a licensed psychiatrist to oversee the quality of care, assess admission appropriateness, and provide therapy and medication management as needed.

You will collaborate with assessments and referrals, consult on cases, and document to address civil commitments. Board-certified or board-eligible candidates encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and completed psychiatry residency.
  • Licensure as an MD or DO and active medical staff status.
  • Board certification preferred; ongoing professional development encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees quality of care and assesses admission appropriateness.
  • Provides individual therapy, family therapy and medication management.
  • Requests consultations and provides psychiatric expertise as needed.

Granite Hills Hospital offers high-quality, patient centered care for the greater Milwaukee community. With a wide range of treatment for children, adolescents, adults and older adults, our mission is to provide much needed outcome-focused care for those who need it most. Our new 120-bed facility will feature evidence-based treatment modalities and a multi-disciplinary team led by expert medical professionals. The 120 beds are split into 5 groups of 24 with enclosed outdoor spaces to promote healing.

Position Summary

Oversees the quality of care delivered to his/her patients. Assesses clinical appropriateness for admission and collaborates with Assessment and Referral regarding potential admissions. Performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statutes. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as needed for patients under his/her care. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated. Provides psychiatric consultation when requested.

Qualifications
Experience/Education

Graduate of an accredited medical school, completed residency in psychiatry, board certification preferred. Licensed as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) Prior experience in hospital based psychiatric practice and outpatient psychiatric practice preferred. Must maintain active status with medical staff.

Skills

Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of crisis intervention procedures. Knowledge of family and group therapy techniques.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for long periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist, turn, twist and manipulate small tools (copier, computer, telephone, calculator, safe, fax machine).
  • Ability to move frequently in the completion of job requirements.
  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks under deadlines and with short notice.
