Job summary

CFG Health Systems LLC seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide ambulatory care at Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ. You will evaluate inmates, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and nurses to ensure safe and patient-centered care.

The role requires state NP certification, RN license, and active DEA/CDS licenses, with 2+ years of direct patient care preferred. On-site, shift flexibility, and adherence to regulatory standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed RN in the state of practice.
• Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice with current DEA, CDS, and DEA-X licenses.
• Minimum 2 years of direct patient care as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document medical evaluations in accordance with NCCHC, NJ 10-A, ACA, and PBNDS standards.
• Assess mental and physical health status and presenting symptoms.
• Develop individualized treatment plans addressing patient needs and relapse prevention.
• Prescribe medications within state regulations and CFG formulas.
• Monitor and manage patient medications and adherence.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and nursing staff to implement plans.
• Document histories, physicals, discharge summaries, and transfer orders accurately.

Position SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner at Essex County Correctional Facility, Newark, NJ provides comprehensive, ambulatory care to inmate patients while maintaining professional nursing standards. NPs work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and correctional staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Inmates often have limited prior access to healthcare, allowing NPs to address a wide range of conditions from minor ailments to complex or chronic illnesses.
