Job summary

Wellpath / Correct Care Solutions in Fairfield, California, seeks a Nurse Practitioner to conduct routine and emergency medical care for inmates. Responsibilities include adhering to medical policies, maintaining patient confidentiality, and communicating with the Medical Director.

Qualifications

  • Prior medical/surgical and/or trauma experience and corrections experience preferred.
  • Maintain current Nurse Practitioner licensure and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and emergency medical care for inmates.
  • Adhere to established medical care policies and document in SOAP format.
  • Communicate scheduling changes and ensure coverage for absences.

Job description

Compensation

$77.56 - $86.18 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and emergency medical care for inmates, including chronic care clinics, infirmary rounds, and emergency treatment on site.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures for medical care, including documentation in SOAP format, adherence to formulary regimens, and utilizing available in‑house resources for treatment.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, while reporting any concerns or questions to the Medical Director or Health Services Administrator.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with accepted practices for incarcerated individuals.
  • Provide input into facility mandatory committees as requested.
  • Ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee.
  • Communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and HSA and make arrangements for coverage when unavailable for an extended period.
Education
  • A graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Experience
  • Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred.
  • Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment.
  • Scheduling flexibility is required to rotate hours and shifts, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
