Job summary

Community Medical Services in Ohio is hiring a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support patients recovering from opioid use disorders. You will perform exams, manage treatment plans, and help deliver medication-assisted treatment in an outpatient setting.

This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with on-call rotation, competitive benefits, and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Licensed NP or PA in the state of employment.
• Unrestricted DEA license.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required.
• Clinical experience in substance abuse rehabilitation preferred.
• Experience documenting into an electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

• Complete medical evaluations, histories and exams before initial medication dose.
• Manage ongoing treatment and document treatment plans per state/federal laws.
• Maintain patient case management for chronic health issues and medications.
• Complete same-day clinical documentation using EHR templates.
• Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals as needed for continuum of care.
• Collaborate with Medical Director to ensure patient needs are met.
• Educate patients and families on medication actions, side effects, and healthy habits.

Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring immediately a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to assist patients recovering from addictions to opioids and other illicit substances. Whether performing physical exams and assessments or prescribing and managing patient methadone treatment plans, your work will help foster a safe place for anyone beginning their recovery journey with us.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm with rotating on call 8:00am-10:00a

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is excited to work in an outpatient setting, much like a doctor’s office or behavioral health clinic.

To thrive in this role, you must be able to:

• Bring sensitivity to the needs of those who are chemically dependent.
• Ensure all medical evaluations, medical histories, and physical examinations are complete before patients receive initial dose of medication.
• Manage ongoing treatment, including signing medical orders, treatment plans, and documentation required by state and federal laws.
• Maintain responsibility for patients’ case management, including chronic health problems, health conditions, and prescription medication management.
• Accurately complete same-day clinical documentation using required visit templates entered into the Electronic Health Record.
• Perform comprehensive physical examinations of patients and facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities as needed for continuum of care.
• Collaborate with the Medical Director to ensure patients’ healthcare needs are met.
• Educate patients, families, staff, and community members on medication actions, side effects, and proper health and nutrition habits.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in state of employment
• Unrestricted DEA license
• CPR Certification Required
• First Aid Certification Required
• Clinical experience in substance abuse rehabilitation and Opioid treatment preferred
• Experience documenting into an electronic medical record
• Ability to complete a valid fingerprint clearance and tuberculosis test
