Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Midwife to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, including prenatal, labor, delivery, postpartum, and family planning services. This role requires a strong foundation in patient care, medical documentation, and specialized knowledge in OB/GYN practices. The Nurse Midwife will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care aligned with NCQA standards and HIPAA regulations. Experience in hospital or inpatient settings, NICU experience, and proficiency with EMR/EHR systems are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical histories
- Manage labor and delivery processes, ensuring safe and effective patient care during childbirth
- Perform procedures such as suturing, IV insertion, venipuncture, specimen collection/processing, and medication administration
- Provide primary care services including family planning, contraception counseling, and outpatient care
- Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA guidelines
- Monitor patient progress during antepartum and postpartum periods; develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients on pregnancy, childbirth options, pain management strategies, and postnatal care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care
- Maintain compliance with NCQA standards and CPT/ICD coding requirements for billing and documentation purposes
- Assist in acute care situations as needed; utilize physiology knowledge and anatomy expertise to support patient safety
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Nurse Midwife with current licensure in the state of practice
- Proven experience in hospital or inpatient OB/GYN settings; NICU experience preferred
- Strong skills in suturing, IV insertion, venipuncture, specimen processing, medication administration, and pain management
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation standards
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD/CPT coding for accurate recordkeeping and billing
- Experience with family planning services, labor & delivery support, outpatient care, and discharge planning
- Ability to perform physical examinations and patient assessments effectively
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
