Job summary

Montefiore Health System is seeking an experienced NICU Nurse Manager to lead our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in New York City. This role emphasizes leadership, operational oversight, and quality patient care within a specialized neonatal environment.

The Nurse Manager will ensure compliance with hospital standards while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and patient-centered care. Ideal candidates will have a BSN, a current RN license in NY, and at least 5 years of NICU experience.

Annual salary ranges from $160,000 to $190,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate NICU Nurse Manager to lead our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, patient care delivery, staff development, quality outcomes, and fiscal management within a highly specialized neonatal care environment.

The Nurse Manager will foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and patient/family-centered care while ensuring compliance with hospital standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and operational oversight for the NICU
• Lead and support nursing staff through mentorship, coaching, and professional development
• Ensure high-quality, safety, and compassionate patient care for neonatal populations
• Manage staffing, budgeting, resource allocation, and departmental performance initiatives
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and strong communication across teams
• Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and service excellence initiatives
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and best practices

Qualifications

• Current RN license in New York State
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 5 years of Level IV NICU clinical experience
• At least 1 year of nursing leadership or management experience
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team‑building skills

Preferred Qualifications

• NICU specialty certification
• Master’s degree in nursing
• 3+ years of leadership experience preferred

Work Schedule: 7 AM-3:30 PM, Monday to Friday
