About The Birthplace

Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s Birthplace is a midwife‑driven, family‑centered labor and delivery unit supporting 400+ births each year. This unique unit offers private birthing suites, water birth, hydrotherapy, full pain management options, and a strong focus on patient autonomy and individualized birth experiences.

Position Highlights

• Lead and support a high‑performing L&D team
• Drive patient safety, quality outcomes, and experience
• Oversee staffing, operations, and day‑to‑day unit performance
• Partner with midwives, physicians, and leadership
• Support staff development, engagement, and retention

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations and maintain high standards for patient safety.
• Lead and coach the labor and delivery team, promoting collaboration among midwives, physicians, and nursing staff.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with the midwife‑led model and hospital standards.
• Ensure efficient staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Encourage staff development and retention through engagement and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
