Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Nurse Manager to lead nursing practice and operations on an assigned unit, driving patient-centered care, staff performance, and quality initiatives.

The role collaborates with the Nursing Director, dyad partners and care teams to ensure compliance with standards, staff education, and efficient patient flow across inpatient, ambulatory, and procedural settings. Strong leadership and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing required; Masters in nursing or health related field preferred.
• 3-5 years nursing clinical care with Charge Nurse/Supervisory experience preferred. Must have relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice assigned.
• Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State
• Board certification in clinical specialty or leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads nursing practice using the tenets of the Professional Practice Model of Relationship Centered Care and the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing for patient experience.
• Demonstrates proficiency in Hourly Care Checks and role modelling of expected behaviors.
• Ensures integration of Hourly Care Checks into clinical activities to enhance Relationship Centered Care.
• Assesses staff competency in Hourly Care Checks and provides consistent feedback.
• Conducts daily patient rounding and weekly staff rounding.
• Communicates patient experience scores and benchmarks to leadership and care teams for action planning.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing, case management, OT/PT, pharmacy and ancillary services to address patient care outcomes.
• Initiates service recovery for patients and families and escalates concerns as needed.
• Fosters caring, respect, empathy and active listening in interactions.
