Job summary

GW Hospital is seeking a Nurse Manager (RN) to oversee the department's operations, align with UHS standards, and ensure high-quality patient care. This leadership role emphasizes staffing, budget and regulatory compliance in a busy academic medical center.

The ideal candidate has a BSN with a master's preferred, a current DC RN license, at least five years of progressive leadership in acute care, and strong communication skills to mentor staff and collaborate with physicians and administrators.

Qualifications

  • BSN required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Current RN license in DC or eligibility to practice in DC.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional nursing leadership in acute care or urban setting.
  • Specialty certification preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to nursing staff to maintain clinical excellence.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership, ensuring effective communication.
  • Identify and address operational or clinical issues promptly to enhance patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.

Job Summary: The Nurse Manager (RN) is responsible for the operational management and strategic planning of the department. This leadership role ensures high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and operational efficiency to meet the needs of our patients, staff, and community.

Responsibilities

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience that demonstrates a progressive leardership background. Hospital background, preferablyin an acute care or urban setting.
  • Certifications: Certification in speciality preferred
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
