Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Nursing Manager to oversee the Med/Surg 8 on the West Bank Campus. You will lead nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with the Nursing Director, ensuring quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient financial management.

You'll drive quality improvement, manage staffing and resources, and partner with interprofessional teams to promote patient-centered care and staff development across the unit.

Qualifications

• BSN required; MSN acceptable if bachelor’s is non-nursing.
• 3 years of nursing experience with 2+ in a leadership role.
• MN RN license or eligibility to obtain on hire.
• BLS certification.

Job Overview

The Nursing Manager position will be overseeing the Med/Surg 8 on the West Bank Hospital. They will manage nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with and accountable to the Nursing Director. This includes nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance, and other operational accountabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization.
• Plans, manages, coordinates and evaluates patient care activities including staffing, resource management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, and financial management.
• Manages equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget.
• Accountable for capacity management to promote patient flow.
• Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the quality improvement initiatives.
• Responsible for human resources management to achieve quality service and positive employee relations.
• Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Advocates for patient, family and staff needs.
• Drive improvement activities that promote patient centered care and positive customer experience.
• In partnership the Nursing Practice and Education team assure that evidence based/best practice clinical care is being delivered.
• Ensures staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency.
• Works with Nurse Director to establish goals and objectives.
• Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.
• Partners with interprofessional team members across the continuum of care to achieve organizational outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing. If Bachelor’s degree is not in nursing must have a Master’s degree in nursing.
• 3 years nursing experience, at least two of which is in a formal or informal (charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License or ability to obtain Minnesota nursing license upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science Nursing.
• ANCC or AONL Certification.

The posted pay range is for a 40‑hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
