Job summary

The Menninger Clinic is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead nursing resources for an assigned program and supervise staff to ensure a high level of patient care aligned with the clinic’s mission and values.

You will provide professional leadership, mentor charge nurses and staff, promote evidence-based practice, coordinate staffing, and collaborate across departments to sustain safety and quality.

Qualifications

• NLN or CCNE accredited BSN or higher required.
• MSN in Nursing/Healthcare or MBA acceptable.
• Texas RN license; board certification in psychiatric mental health or nursing executive.
• Minimum 3 years in clinical psychiatric nursing with leadership.

Responsibilities

Summary

The nurse manager is responsible for the management and leadership of nursing resources of an assigned program and supervising nursing staff to ensure a high level of patient care. The nurse manager integrates Menninger’s mission, vision and values to promote an optimal healing environment.

Key Functions

1. Provide leadership in delivery of nursing care on the assigned program

• Create and maintain a work climate that encourages positive nursing staff morale, motivation and commitment
• Provide effective mentorship and supervision of charge nurses, staff nurses, mental health specialists and administrative assistants
• Influence nurses’ professional autonomy through shared governance
• Ensure effective orientation and staff development activities
• Daily staffing pattern matches program operational plan

2. Exhibit leadership in professional practice

• Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning
• Maintain active participation in professional organization
• Insure current clinical knowledge and application to patient care
• Interprets unit acuity and adjusts patient care and staffing as needed; utilizes staffing advisory committee as guide

Education

Required: Completion of an NLN or CCNE accredited BSN program or Bachelor’s in a healthcare related field or Masters of Science in Nursing/Healthcare or Business Administration.

License/Certification

Current license to practice nursing in the State of Texas. Board certified in psychiatric mental health nursing or nursing executive certification.

Experience

Three years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing with demonstrated leadership and management skills. Prior experience in managerial role such as charge nurse or supervisor.
