The role partners with the Director of Adult Intensive Services and Chief Clinical Officer, provides on-call support, ensuring compliance with ANA/JCAHO/CMS and credentialing while coordinating staffing, training, risk management, and stakeholder relations.

Qualifications

  • Must possess an active RN license in Indiana (state licensure).
  • ASN required; BSN or MSN preferred for advanced practice and leadership.
  • Three years of Psychiatric RN experience required.
  • Experience supervising nursing staff and coordinating crisis services.

POSITION SUMMARY:This position is responsible for overseeing the operations of the CRSS (Crisis Receiving Stabilization Services) nursing staff. In this capacity, he/she has responsibility for the immediate supervision of CRSS nursing staff as well as the management and oversight of nursing clinical and operational processes. Review and evaluation of medication management trainings to ensure a smooth and coordinated pharmacy operation for the Center, with particular focus on MAT treatment and crisis stabilization unit functionality. Being part of the Center’s management team, he/she will be expected to assist in on-call responsibilities and decision making as required in the role. This position is responsible for working with the Director of Adult Intensive Services and Chief Clinical Officer as well as Medical Leadership in developing policies and procedures to promote the philosophy, goals, and mission related to service areas of responsibility. This position will continually establish and strengthen working relationships among staff as well as key community stakeholders by responding timely and appropriately to any concerns or questions related to nursing services. This position will work to ensure that CRSS services are managed by nursing staff and delivered in areas of responsibility according to the best professional and ethical standards. This position operates under minimal supervision and must exercise tact, judgment, and confidentiality in contact with the public, clients, and families, as well as fellow associates of the Center. The work is very broad in scope and requires a high level of professionalism.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversee day to day nursing operations, including staff management, department and employee safety programs, and risk management.Plan, organize, and directly supervise nursing staff to ensure an adequate level of patient care.Enforce and monitor compliance with all nursing and crisis professional standards, including adherence to all care and documentation guidelines and policies including implementation, evaluation, and revision of policy.Monitor the acuity of the CRSS to determine staffing decisions.Responsible for ensuring all nursing staff have the skills, tools, equipment, and support necessary to complete essential daily tasks.Serves to support each program with needed nursing resource, to include but not limited to on-site coverage, med room audit and organization, trainings, medication error reviews and refresher trainings, clinical and medical review of referrals and consumer needsEnsure Nurses are directing the care of clients as recommended by LP.Ensure that all Nursing staff are providing care that is collaborative, competent, compassionate, and respectful.Evaluate competencies specific to job role and as defined in policy and provide staff development and annual training for nursing staff.Communicate information to unit staff via regular staff meetings and other communication formats.Provide direct patient care on an as needed basis to support nursing and direct care staff.Responsible for the implementation and management of financial, staffing, and programmatic goals for the CRSS in collaboration with other crisis leaders.Work with the operations manager or designee to recruit and hire nursing (RN/LPN, CMA) along with the implementation and execution of retention strategies.Responsible for implementation of disciplinary action for nursing staff who have failed to maintain expected standards of performance and conduct as delineated in employee handbook.Identify, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts for CRSS equipment, services, and supplies.Maintain administrative oversight of CRSS nursing, including, but not limited to, payroll, approval of expenses, PTO, and scheduling.Maintain clinical supervisory oversight of AIS nursing staff.Promote and maintain professional and effective relationships and communications with internal and external stakeholders.Develop policies and procedures that maintain the scope and standards of nursing practice.Ensure nursing programs and services comply with policies, procedures, legal, and accreditation/regulatory requirements, including but not limited to TJC, CMS, IDOH, DMHA, ANA.Working closely with Medical, Safety, Facilities, Fiscal and Quality/Compliance leadershipRespond to any calls/concerns presented from the CRSS from nursing staff or local law enforcement and emergency departments.Collaborate regarding changes needed to meet requirements for all healthcare pertaining to telehealth integration in CRSS and continuously explore opportunities for virtual nursing specific to Adult Intensive Services.Foster departmental cultures centered on safety and ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet the safety needs of clients and staff.Support all staff by providing guidance, encouragement and nurturing a learning environment. Contribute relevant knowledge, skills, and information relevant to client needs and progress.Ensure all nursing personnel are competent in their job duties and skills as required by the Nurse Practice Act.Assist with nursing and agency training as it pertains to nursing and medical practices within the scope of practice for a registered nurse.Maintain Center credentialing and privilege status.Obtain certification as a CPI trainer and support ongoing CPI training drills in CRSS spaces.Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate efficient and effective patient care.Ensure that the infectious waste/handling and disposal policy is being followed.Work directly will all agency departments to ensure integrated care coordination.Abide by all Center policies and procedures.Maintain positive working relations and rapport with the communities served.Perform other duties and projects as assigned.CORE COMPETENCIES:Communication Skills: This position requires professional communication skills, both oral and written. A person in this position must be knowledgeable and comfortable with these and able to learn and adjust to new processes as needed.Customer Service: This position requires exemplary customer service skills for both internal and external customers. A person in this position must be courteous as well as cooperative in all dealings and maintain a positive attitude and a harmonious work environment.Leadership Skills: This position is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the Acute Care and Crisis Stabilization Units. A person in this position must be able to effectively manage, direct, coordinate and communicate between and for all various levels of staff in a professional manner at all times.
