Job summary

Newport Healthcare in Virginia seeks a Manager of Nursing to oversee on-site nursing staff for young adults. You will align duties with policies, supervise shifts, and coordinate with Medical Director and psychiatry.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active RN license in Virginia.
• Pass health screening, TB test and pre-employment drug screen.
• Minimum two years nursing experience; one year in a supervisory role preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication with Medical Director and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between nursing team and Medical Director/Director of psychiatry.
• Delegate shift-specific responsibilities to maximize nursing care efficiency.
• Perform 2–4 clinical shifts monthly and cover for staff as needed.
• Conduct weekly chart audits and address missing or erroneous documentation.
• Review medication error and incident reports related to medications.
• Complete compliance-related nursing documentation and treatment plans when indicated.
• Compile and distribute reports as required.
• Coordinate with local pharmacies regarding payment issues and communicate with admissions.
• Perform phlebotomy when ordered by MD and liaise with Quest for pickups.
• Uphold Newport Healthcare policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do

The Manager, Nursing provides oversight and instructions for on-site nursing to staff and young adults. The Manager, Nursing is expected to perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and core values of Newport Healthcare and comply with all policies and procedures, OSHA, HIPPA, local, state, and federal, regulations.

• Act as liaison between nursing team and Medical Director/Director of psychiatry.
• Delegate delegating shift-specific responsibilities to maximize efficiency and accuracy in provision of nursing care.
• Perform 2-4 clinical shifts monthly and fill in for nurses who take vacation/call out, as well as stepping in to perform clinical duties if team is short staffed.
• Perform chart audits on a weekly basis and address any missing or erroneous documentation immediately.

Applicable State Requirements

Virginia

• Must pass a Health Screening, TB test, and pre-employment drug screening.
• Current RN license in the state in which you are applying required.
• Minimum of two years of prior nursing experience preferred.
• Minimum of one year management/supervisory experience preferred.
