Job summary

Amherst Regional High School seeks a dedicated Nurse Manager to oversee the school nursing program across Amherst, Pelham, and Amherst-Pelham Regional Districts. You will lead health services, ensure student health and safety, and promote a healthy school environment.

The role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a passion for student health within the APAA framework. A BSN and MA DESE school nurse license are essential.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• MA DESE School Nurse License.
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a school or pediatric setting preferred.
• Strong leadership and management skills; ability to motivate and guide a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Knowledge of state and federal health regulations, as well as school health policies.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; manage multiple priorities.
• CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certifications in school nursing or public health preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings for school events or meetings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the school health offices, including daily operations and staff performance.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate health policies and procedures in accordance with state regulations and school district guidelines.
• Provide direct nursing care to students, including assessment, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health issues.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to develop and implement Individual Health Plans (IHPs) for students with special health needs.
• Conduct health screenings and immunization programs, maintaining accurate health records and documentation.
• Provide health education to students, staff, and families on various health topics, including nutrition, mental health, and disease prevention.
• Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community health resources.
• Monitor and manage school health trends and report significant health issues to school administration and appropriate authorities.
• Train and supervise nursing staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Participate in school committees and contribute to the development of a comprehensive health education program.
