Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the health needs of students at TUSD schools. The role involves providing medical assistance and maintaining health records, all under the guidance of a School Nurse.

The position requires a current Arizona LPN license, BLS certification, and preferably two years of experience in pediatric or public health nursing. This is a 1.0 FTE role with an 8-hour daily shift across multiple sites within the district.

SUMMARY

Licensed Practical Nurse assists in caring for the health needs of students at a TUSD school, under the direct and indirect supervision or guidance of a School Nurse. Assists the School Nurse and Health Assistant in maintaining a comprehensive health program. Performs the essential duties and functions of an LPN: assessing and providing care and treatment to urgent medical needs, personal and hygiene needs, maintaining medical records, administering prescribed medications according to instructions, conducting health screenings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of a certificate program in Practical Nursing
• Current, active and in good standing, and unencumbered Arizona Licensed Practical Nurse license. Compact licenses may be considered; if the candidate is a resident of Arizona, they must seek a home compact state license in Arizona
• Clinical experience in pre-licensure program may be considered, experience in any nursing specialty
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Health and Safety Institute, etc.) is required at the time of hire; may have First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from a recognized provider
• Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire)

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE

• Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card (apply at AZDPS FCC Form Triage)
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
• Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for an Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Provider ID Number
• MVReport– showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
• Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• At least two (2) years of pediatric, public health, or school nursing experience.
• Arizona State Certificate in Vision and Hearing Screening

Work Calendar: 10 month

*4 Positions available.

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
