Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Nurse Intern to support patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration with the healthcare team, and delivering safe, compassionate care to enhance the patient experience.

You will perform basic care tasks, monitor vital signs, document observations, and participate in rounds and handoffs while maintaining a clean, compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing program
• Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program
• 0-1 years of experience in a healthcare setting (if applicable)

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care within scope of practice, including vital sign monitoring, hygiene assistance, and patient comfort measures.
• Communicates effectively with the care team, including handoffs and bedside shift reports.
• Develops clinical skills under the guidance of an RN.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment meeting safety standards.
• Assists with basic equipment maintenance and proper storage after discharge.
• Performs hourly rounding and fosters therapeutic patient interactions.
• Documents tasks and observations clearly and promptly.
• Maintains excellent customer service with patients and departments.
