Job summary

The Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero seeks a permanent, full-time Nurse Instructor for the School of Psychiatric Technology. The role will instruct adult learners in psychiatric nursing, supervise clinical training, and ensure educational objectives are met.

Applicants must hold a Registered Nurse license and have or be pursuing an Adult Learner's Certificate in teaching. Travel to clinical sites is required; this is an in-office, on-site position with standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

Must be a Registered Nurse with eligibility as per the examination bulletin.
An instructor in a BVNPT approved Psychiatric Technician Training Program shall have or be currently attending an Adult Learner's Certificate in teaching.

Responsibilities

Instruct adult learners in nursing principles and techniques for Psychiatric Nursing, Developmental Disabilities and Nursing Science.
Supervise clinical training of Psych Tech students and help meet clinical objectives.
Communicate effectively and manage the classroom.
Possess knowledge of medications and psychiatric terminology.
Evaluate student progress and participate in program policy development.
Tutor and counsel students as needed.
