Job summary

San Juan Regional Medical Center is seeking a clinical informatics leadership role to manage and coordinate its clinical/operational systems. The position reports to the Vice President of Clinical Informatics or CIO designee and requires strong project coordination and communication.

You will work across departments to optimize EHR workflows, support Oracle Health and Cerner systems, and drive patient safety and quality outcomes through effective information services.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related area or equivalent level of training/experience; three (3) years clinical healthcare experience; familiar with healthcare operational and business workflows; ability to organize work and attend to detail. Advances operational, clinical, and business workflows and objectives into functional Information Systems supporting SJRMC’s focus on patient safety and quality outcomes through efficient and effective clinical and operational informatics. Collaborates with multiple departments, across various schedules, and varying workloads while providing exceptional world class customer service. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organization, analytical and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects with strong prioritizing skills while documenting and communicating systems work through the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and ticketing process. Commitment to enhance professional growth and development through participation in continued educational programs, current literature, meetings, certifications, and trainings. Strong critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills, while multi-tasking projects/workloads. Excellent oral and written communication skills while providing world-class customer service.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Oracle Health Electronic Health Record. Bachelors or master’s degree in healthcare informatics or equivalent level of experience. Applicable clinical experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and lead the coordination, implementation, on-going maintenance, and evaluation of system functionality for Oracle Health/Cerner EHR. Assists with enterprise clinical, operational, and financial application support, maintenance, troubleshooting, downtime support, upgrades, upgrade support and training for nursing, physician, acute, ambulatory, and ancillary clinical systems/operations. Trains caregivers on the core EHR and supporting systems and maintains appropriate certification(s). Provides analyst level support to a variety of clinical systems and additionally, as needed, operational and financial information systems. Conducts interviews, collects information, assesses hardware, software, operational, clinical, and business needs. Documents/implements customer workflow and requirements. Maintains appropriate, MOCK, and training environment, while making sure test scripts remain clinically, operationally, and financially relevant for current and upgrade environments. Presents technical recommendation(s) and solution sets to meet operational and clinical efficiencies; informs customer and leadership of what will be involved in the project(s) and documents the process, focusing on the impact on quality outcomes and efficiencies. Supports additional modules/systems as needed. Plans with the enterprise caregivers for maximizing involvement in planned and unplanned downtimes, application support, and optimization. Communicates effectively organizationally while providing sufficient technical review, direction, clarity, training, and feedback. Rounds with clinical, operational, and financial business partners on a regular basis soliciting feedback on the effectiveness of information services in advancing the highest quality outcomes and efficient business processes to maximize clinical documentation and charge capture. Participates in hospital committees as appropriate and assigned. Writes related policies and procedures as needed. Consistently demonstrates a professional, self-directed approach to cooperative relationships throughout the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication with peers, co-workers, directors, physicians, office staff, and other departments; works independently and with others while providing world-class customer service. Ability to adapt to change rapidly; ability to prioritize activities complete tasks in a timely manner. Manages relationships with trust, honesty, respect, and integrity. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions: Able to work within time constraints; high stress situations and multiple tasks; ability to maintain a professional attitude and appearance; be courteous to co-workers and patient/family. Participate and promote teamwork. Physical presence onsite is essential, with remote work as agreed upon. Require extended work hours during significant projects/upgrades and support of infrastructure/systems, and on-call coverage. Medium physical demands capability required. Exerting up to thirty (30) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking.
