Overview

This position is with Defense Health Agency, Progressive Care Unit located at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, GA. It serves as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse using evidence‑based practice to guide data gathering, nursing judgement, intervention, and evaluation of patient responses.

Salary Range

$93,782 - $121,919 per year

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive professional nursing care to critically ill patients in an Adult Intensive Care Unit.
• Assist physicians with complex or life‑threatening procedures.
• Monitor patient’s condition by continuous observation and precise calculation of fluid levels and vital signs.
• Mix and administer special, potent, and lethal drugs.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and all other hospital employees.
• Develop and implement a Plan of Care for each patient consistent with recognized professional nursing standards.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. The education must have been accredited by an accredited body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

Foreign Degree: A degree from a foreign nursing school. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Exemption: If you are a current federal employee in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in that series since September 27, 2017 or earlier, you are exempt from the basic requirements above, provided you can supply the required documentation.

Professional Nursing Experience: One or more full years of professional nursing experience that includes providing nursing care to intensive care unit or emergency room patients, administering medications, and providing patient or staff education. This experience requirement cannot be substituted with education.
