Job summary

University Hospitals and Health System is seeking nurse graduates who are board eligible to work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. After competency is established, they will provide direct and indirect patient care during orientation on the unit and will be expected to obtain their Mississippi nursing license.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Nursing/Diploma with active nursing license within 120 days of hire.
• Strong nursing assessment and patient care skills.
• Familiarity with hospital computer systems and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs, intake, outputs, pulse oximetry and weights accurately and report changes to RN.
• Assist and prepare patients for treatment, exams, and procedures as directed by RN.
• Administer baths and basic hygiene measures as directed by RN.
• Assist with collection and delivery of specimens to appropriate labs in a timely manner.
• Weigh, lift, turn and reposition patients with proper body mechanics.
• Submit proper patient charges for supplies/equipment and report any needed repairs.
• Assist in serving dietary trays and feeding patients as needed.
• Provide care aligned with patient expectations, age, and development level.
• Adhere to infection control policies and participate in ongoing education/in-service.
• Duties are general and may be adjusted by management.
