Job summary

Mercy is offering a paid Nursing Externship designed for nursing students to translate classroom learning into real bedside practice. You will rotate through multiple units for exposure to diverse patient populations and learn from experienced Mercy nurses.

Participants work about 24 hours per week (two 12-hour shifts) and gain mentorship, hands-on experience, and networking with clinical leaders. Aimed at accelerating growth toward an RN career.

Qualifications

• Must have completed at least 2 semesters of nursing school.
• Must have completed at least one round of clinicals.
• Available to participate in a winter externship.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through nursing units to gain exposure to diverse patient populations.
• Learn directly from Mercy nurse preceptors.
• Develop confidence and critical-thinking skills for a future RN.

Launch Your Nursing Externship

The Mercy Nursing Externship is an exclusive, paid winter experience designed for nursing students who are eager to accelerate their growth, build confidence, and gain meaningful hands‑on experience alongside some of the most compassionate and skilled nurses in healthcare.

As a Mercy Nursing Extern, you'll work approximately 24 hours per week (two 12‑hour shifts) and rotate through a variety of nursing units, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations and specialty areas while learning directly from experienced Mercy nurses who are invested in your success.
