Parkridge East Hospital in Tennessee is hiring a Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool to join our nursing team. You will gain hands-on experience exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care to patients.

This PRN position offers opportunities to develop clinical skills, work with experienced nurses, and learn under a preceptor. Basic Cardiac Life Support is required within 30 days of start; no travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care helping with activities of daily living and monitoring vital signs
• Assist with wound care, catheter care, specimen collection and other basic nursing procedures
• Document care accurately and communicate updates with the nursing team
• Educate patients and families about care plans and health recovery
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas and follow infection prevention practices
• Support growth by engaging in learning opportunities and following the supervision plan

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands‑on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients’ lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times. Visit us for excellent general and OB care!
