Job summary

HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, FL is seeking a Nurse Extern to join the nursing team and gain hands-on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll deliver safe, compassionate care while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

You will gain exposure to ADLs, vital signs, wound care, specimen collection, and patient education, while contributing to a collaborative

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of start date.
• Completed fundamentals of nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated.
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery.
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment.
• Champions growth and enhances patient care by engaging in learning opportunities and developing a personal career plan with your supervisor.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Completed fundamentals of nursing required
