Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a nursing student who has completed at least one medical/surgical rotation to join our Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO. You will work under a Registered Nurse, respond to patient needs, assist with care, and support family education as you progress toward licensure.

Qualifications

• Student in good standing in an accredited School of Nursing program, has completed a minimum of one medical/surgical rotation.
• BLS-HCP certification upon hire or within 60 days with approval.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient care needs by answering call lights and assisting with hygiene, nutrition, and hydration.
• Obtains vital signs and documents care with RN signature.
• Assists with Foley catheter/Nasogastric tube insertions, care, and removal.
• Performs secondary assessments and supports patient/family education on disease, meds, and care plan.
• Adheres to infection prevention standards and supports patient transfers, admissions, and discharges as directed.

Job Description:A nursing student who has completed a minimum of one medical/surgical rotation in an accredited nursing program and is pending nursing licensure. All nursing students hired into this position are expected to obtain nursing licensure as soon as possible and transition into a new graduate nurse resident position, as available, for the next available cohort after licensure. Works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.Essential FunctionsResponds to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting patients with hygiene care and nourishment, obtaining vital signs, and communicating constructively, effectively, and timely with members of the care team.Assists with Foley catheter and nasogastric tube insertions, care, and removal.Checks and documents patient vitals, glucose levels, inputs, and outputs. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
