Job summary

Webster Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nurse Extern to grow nursing skills through a partnership with an experienced Registered Nurse and to gain hands-on experience in direct patient care.

Responsibilities include data collection, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care under RN guidance. Light lifting and nursing fundamentals experience are required, CPR credentials preferred. Work schedule varies; location WV: Webster Springs.

Qualifications

• Light Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10 lbs, max 25 lbs.
• Experience with nursing fundamentals in lab/clinical setting evidenced by a skill check-off.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection under RN supervision to support patient care.
• Analyze assessment data to help identify patient diagnoses and care needs.
• Identify expected outcomes and support planning of patient care under direction of RN.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans with guidance to ensure compassionate care.

Assessment: The nurse extern, under the direction of the registered nurse, collects comprehensive data pertinent to the healthcare consumer’s health and/or situation by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Diagnosis: The nurse extern, under the direction of the registered nurse, analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or the issues by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Outcomes Identification: The nurse extern, under the direction of the registered nurse, identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Planning: The nurse extern, under the direction of the registered nurse, develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternative to attain expected outcomes by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Implementation: The nurse extern, under the direction of the registered nurse, implements the identified plan by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Evaluation: The nurse extern, under the direction of the registered nurse, evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Light Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs with a maximum lifting of 25 lbs.

Experience with nursing fundamentals in lab and/or clinical setting as evidenced by completed nursing fundamentals skill check-off.
