HCA Florida JFK North Hospital invites nursing students in good standing to join as a Nurse Extern in Med/Surg. You will gain hands-on experience, support the RN team, and learn to deliver compassionate patient care as you progress through your nursing program.

You'll perform essential care activities, document appropriately, and participate in ongoing learning with supervision. This PRN role supports your clinical training within a leading health system in West Palm Beach, FL.

Formación

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program.
• At least 1 year of nursing school completed.

Responsabilidades

• Aid patients with ADLs and vital signs; assist mobility and comfort.
• Perform basic nursing tasks with supervision (wound care, catheter care, specimen collection).
• Document care accurately and communicate updates to the nursing team.
• Explain care plans to patients and families, provide guidance.
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas and follow infection prevention practices.
• Grow professionally by engaging in learning opportunities with your supervisor.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you'll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You'll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients' lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

What qualifications you will need:

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing, Required
• 1+ years of nursing school completed, Preferred
