Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nursing Extern for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (Stroke Certified) at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center. The role supports RN-directed patient care in a CARF-accredited rehab unit, focusing on neuromedical conditions and mobility.

The position is part-time with 8 hours per week and shifts may vary (days, evenings, nights). Enrollment in an accredited nursing program is required, with clinical coursework completed or underway.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, completes activities of daily living, vital signs, and blood glucose monitoring.
• Collaborates with the RN in planning care based on health needs and patient/family preferences.
• Evaluates patient response to interventions and communicates observations to the RN.
• Assists with medication administration as delegated by the RN.
• Maintains safe patient handling and transfer procedures and adheres to age-specific care requirements.

Successful completion of a Medical Surgical Clinical
