Tenet Healthcare in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a Nurse Extern to gain expanded clinical experience while assisting RN staff with patient care activities, care planning, implementation, observation and evaluation.

Responsibilities include recording blood glucose, reporting values to the attending nurse, obtaining vital signs, coordinating care, and responding in emergencies. High school diploma required; BLS CPR certification required within 7 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification (within 7 days of hire).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsabilités

• Accurately checks patient's blood sugar and documents results as ordered.
• Obtains vital signs appropriate to patient's age and condition.
• Reports abnormal findings immediately to the attending nurse.
• Coordinates care with other health professionals.
• Provide appropriate treatment in emergency situations as they arise.
• Notifies nurse of changes in patient's condition.
• Performs related duties as required.

The Nurse Extern role is designed to provide expanded clinical experience for professional (RN) nursing students and to assist the Registered Nursing staff by performing patient care activities, which includes participating in patient care planning, implementation, observation and evaluation, as well as reporting significant observations to a Registered Nurse.

Accurately checks patient's blood sugar and documents results as ordered (all values are correctly reported to attending nurse).

Obtains vital signs appropriately based on patient's age and condition. Reports abnormal findings immediately to attending or charge nurse.

Coordinates care with other health professionals.

Provides appropriate treatment in emergency situations as they arise (i.e. codes, patient falls).

Notifies nurse of changes in patient's condition.

Performs related duties as required.

Required:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
• Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required. Must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
