Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (sophomore level or higher).
• CPR certification required.
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and staff.

Program Structure

Weekly Hours:

12 hours/week is ideal. Flexible scheduling and hours

Extern I – Entry Level

Medical-Surgical

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Emergency Room (ER)

Pediatrics

Mother/Baby

Extern II – Advanced Level

For students entering the final year of their nursing program

Unit-based placements in:

Med-Surg

ICU

ER

Women’s and Children’s units

Externs may shadow an RN and perform skills under supervision
