NURSE EDUCATORJob Description:
Principle Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • 1. Demonstrates clinical expertise across specialty areas. 2. Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking skills including advanced leadership skills during emergencies or crises. 3. Serves as an educator of clinical practice, and supporter of staff professional development and personal growth. 4. Participates in delegations of patient care assignments reflecting the learning needs of the staff and staff competency to meet patient needs. 5. Participates and makes recommendations in the selection of new hires and transfers based on qualifications and abilities necessary to meet patient needs. 6. Collects and assesses monthly quality data to evaluate, discuss and recommend Performance Improvement initiatives in conjunction with the Nurse Manager and Director. 7. Assists with Annual Competencies of all Surgical Services and Procedural Areas. 8. Serves as a resource to all staff and management in planning and providing educational programs. 9. Serves as Administrator for AORN Periop 101: Core Curriculum Program. 10. Assists in the growth of staff in developing them as preceptors and mentors. 11. Plans present, and evaluates orientation, in-service, and continuing education programs. 12. Acts as liaison with Staff Education Department assisting with the development, recommendation, and implementation of policies, procedures, and new initiatives/roll-outs. 13. Assists and collaborates with Director regarding staff performance by making competency determinations and giving recommendations/input for yearly staff evaluations. 14. Works collaboratively with care team members to maintain unit efficiency and patient care excellence. 15. Work practice reflects the philosophy, purpose, and policies of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Mount Auburn Hospital 16. Models the Hospital’s Core Values. 17. Collaborates with Surgical Services Leadership Group to develop and implement a strategic educational plan based on learning needs assessment 18. Collaborates with Surgical Services Leadership Group to assist with onboarding of new physicians.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in a clinical specialty area
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and critical thinking skills including advanced leadership skills during emergency or crises
  • Served as successful preceptor and mentor
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the education needs of the surgical and procedural services departments
  • AORN Perioperative 101 Course Instructor - preferred
  • Excellent computer skills (Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent customer service skills
Pay Range:

$81,640.00 USD - $210,433.60 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
