Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner to influence learning and professional growth across the organization. This RN role collaborates with Emergency Department nursing leadership to align competency management, education, and onboarding with ANA standards and system-wide goals.

Ideal candidates bring a CT nursing license and 3+ years in acute care, plus teaching or professional development experience.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree required; at least one degree must be in Nursing.
• Current Connecticut nursing license; BLS certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of acute care experience; teaching experience preferred.
• Experience in nursing professional development or specialty area preferred.

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner is a Registered Nurse with NPD practice judgment and expertise who influences professional role competence and growth of learners. The NPD practitioner is responsible for supporting learners within the context and framework of the Nursing Professional Development, Scope and Standards practice as approved by the American Nurses Association. This position works in collaboration with Emergency Department nursing leadership to foster and influence competency management, clinical nursing education, professional role development, policy standardization, collaborative partnerships, scientific inquiry, transition to practice and onboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCare colleagues. The practitioner is an essential member of the nursing leadership team who promotes the alignment of regional NPD and practice excellence with the HHC system as a whole.

In addition to being one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Connecticut, our Hartford Hospital ED RNs treat patients with the highest acuity in the region. The Hartford Hospital Emergency Department is also a Comprehensive Cardiac Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and accredited Geriatric Emergency Department. The department is comprised of 108 beds, with the addition of a 19-bed ED Observation Unit. The ED treats an average of over 110,000 patients annually. Hartford Hospital is home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), which is recognized as one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. Our ED is also home to Life Star, the state's first Critical Care helicopter service. Our ED RNs are also the recipients of the prestigious National Lantern Award for Excellence in Nursing.

Education

• One degree must be in Nursing. Demonstrated clinical competence in areas of assignment.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of appropriate recent experience in an acute care setting. One year of relevant teaching experience, nursing professional development and/or specialty area preferred.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

Current Connecticut nursing license.
