Job summary

Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic's St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA is hiring a Nurse Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care on the MG2 telemetry unit.

You will perform duties under RN instructions, obtain supplies, assist with feeding, and help with rounds to ensure patient safety. Requirements include High School diploma or equivalent, PA CNA registry or completion of nursing clinical rotations, 1 year of relevant experience or EMT, and BLS.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • PA Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) or completed nursing clinical rotations required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience or EMT may substitute for certification/rotation.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care under RN instructions.
  • Obtain supplies to ensure patient rooms are ready for admission and discharge.
  • Assist with feeding and monitor intake/output.
  • Perform specimen collection and basic nursing tasks as directed.
  • Participate in hourly rounding to ensure safety and comfort.

Position Purpose

The primary objective of this position is to provide quality of care.

  • Responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of patients assigned utilizing professional nursing skills and knowledge.
  • Unit Overview Telemetry unit with double rooms and 48 beds.
  • As a Nurse Assistant, you will Performs direct and indirect patient care activities following RN instructions, physician orders, policies, procedures and regulations
  • Obtain supplies from designated supply rooms to assure patient rooms are ready for patient admission and cleared when patient discharged/transferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to feed patients, knowledge of dysphasia precautions and calculating and recording intake and output.
  • Demonstrates competence while collecting specimens-urine routine, clean catch, foley, stools for c-diff, etc.
  • Demonstrates competence with the application of heat and cold packs, ace wraps, slings, binders, protective devices and orthopedic devices.
  • Participates in hourly rounding programs and schedules to ensure patient safety and reduce patient harm; observes for environmental safety, informs patient and family on safety precautions, turns and repositions patients, preemptively assists with toileting activities, and addresses personal needs.
  • Appropriately seeks assistance of the Nurse Manager of designee for conflict resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Graduate/Equivalent required.
  • PA Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) OR completed a minimum of one semester of clinical rotations in an accredited nursing program required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience and/or relevant certification (EMT) is considered in lieu of required certification/clinical rotation.
  • BLS Required.
