Job summary

Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, part of Catholic Health, is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patients with activities of daily living and provide care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean environment while assisting in routine nursing tasks and patient comfort. Emphasis on teamwork, safety, and compassionate patient care. Shift includes days and evenings with rotation for weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required or equivalent.
• BLS certification to be obtained within six months of hire/transfer.
• No prior experience required.

Summary:

Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the patients and/or nursing unit.

Responsibilities:

Education

• High School or GED
• BLS within six (6) months of hire/transfer

Experience

• No prior experience needed

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

• Mental and physical health sufficient to withstand strenuous activity, bending, lifting, walking
• Desire and skill to meet the needs of acute care patients
• Continuous awareness of need for safety measures in patient care
• To assist other hospital staff in direct patient care
• Computer literate Ability to read with comprehension

• Ability to cope with stress and handle multiple priorities is required
• Obligation to conserve supplies, equipment and time in a cost-effective environment
