Job summary

Northwell in Port Jefferson, NY is seeking a Nurse Assistant to provide basic patient care aligned with age-appropriate needs and developmental considerations.

You will assist with activities of daily living, observe and report changes, transport patients, tidy rooms, stock supplies, and support admissions and discharges. This role emphasizes safety, efficient care, and adherence to hospital policies; CNA program completion is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program is preferred.
• Prior relevant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, bathing, feeding and ambulation.
• Observes patients and reports any changes in condition to Registered Nurse. Answers patient call lights and responds appropriately.
• Transports patients to and from units, as directed by Registered Nurse and in accordance with established transfer techniques.
• Straightens up patient rooms, changes linens, and performs related tasks.
• Replenishes supply stock needed for basic patient care and orders supplies.
• Assists with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Complies with safety policies and procedures to provide a safe environment for employees, patients and visitors.
• Contributes to cost effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment and supplies.
