Job summary

Anesthetizes patients undergoing surgical, medical, obstetrical, diagnostic, psychiatric, or resuscitative procedures using general, regional, or monitored anesthesia. Works under the Department of Surgical Services with medical direction from Anesthesiology physicians.

Role emphasizes pre-op assessment, intraoperative care, and post-operative documentation in a state facility setting, with a focus on patient safety and quality metrics.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by a recognized body.
• Certified or eligible for certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients pre-operatively with history, physical, and anesthesia plan.
• Attend continuing education and participate in departmental committees.
• Contribute to performance improvement and data collection.
• Maintain anesthesia records and related documents legibly.
• Provide anesthesia according to standards, monitor and transport the patient.
