Job Title and Location

Nurse (Ambulatory) - Kirtland AFB, NM

About the Position

This position is located at the 377th Medical Group, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico and is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive professional nursing services of an advanced nature requiring critical thinking skills.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine patient care needs.
  • Perform nursing triage to determine the appropriate level of care.
  • Perform procedures, treatment, and medication administration.
  • Gather critical information for patient medication renewal requests.
  • Participate in continuing education programs and engage in evidence-based improvement projects to update and advance clinical practice.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements for Nurse (Ambulatory Care)

  • Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
  • Licensure: A current, active, full, unrestricted license as a professional nurse from a State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or territory of the United States; must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • Foreign Degree: Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have completed the CGFNS certification program, including the qualifying exam and English proficiency evidence.
  • Exemption: Current federal employees in the 0610 occupational series continuously employed since September 27, 2017 may be exempt by providing documentation.

In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must also meet one of the following qualification requirements:

  • At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to GS‑9 or above) providing comprehensive nursing care to ambulatory patients, administering medications, and providing patient or staff education.
  • A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
  • Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education from a professional nursing program.
