Job summary

Advocate Health in Lincoln is seeking a part-time Nurse Aide II to support nursing staff in Med Surg 2E. You will perform essential clerical duties, patient admissions, and ensure accurate, confidential communication of patient information.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of Nurse Aide II training, and BCLS certification. You will work under RN supervision, maintaining a safe, patient-centered environment and exhibiting professional communication.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a state Board of Nursing approved Nurse Aide II course or nursing student listed as a Nurse Aide II.
  • BCSL certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes clerical duties for patient admissions and medical records.
  • Maintains confidential and timely communication of patient information.
  • Handles calls and transmits messages as needed.
  • Communicates with team, patients and families professionally and clearly.
  • Supports safe, therapeutic environment following procedures.
  • Performs NA1+4 skills per NA-1 Enhancer Program.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a applicable state Board of Nursing approved Nurse Aide II course or nursing student listed as a Nurse Aide II.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION

applicable state Board of Nursing listing as a Nurse Aide II. Registered as a Nurse Aide I with the applicable state Department of Health and Human Service Regulation. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCSL) required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Completes clerical duties for patient admissions and assembling of medical records.
  • Ensures complete, confidential, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
  • Handles and screens incoming calls, and transmits messages as necessary.
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
  • Contributes to a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established procedures.
  • Conducts work in an organized, quiet, efficient manner and demonstrates ability to cope with stressful situations.
  • Performs NA1+4 skills within the guidelines of medical facility's NA-1 Enhancer Program.
  • Provides or assists the patient with personal hygiene, comfort, and activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Completes assigned unit responsibilities and assists other staff members in completion of their duties when time permits.
  • Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.

Strong oral and written communication skills Reliable and maintains a professional appearance Good computer skills Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands Knowledgeable of all patient level care (pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Frequent contact with patients, family members, visitors, and medical staff under a wide variety of circumstances Subject to moderate/high stressful conditions and multiple interruptions Clean, well-lit, comfortable climate Possible exposure to the risk of blood-borne diseases, infectious, and contagious diseases
