Job summary

Pinnacle Treatment Centers in Georgia seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide basic medical services in an outpatient addiction recovery setting. You will uphold nursing standards, ensure safe medication delivery, and maintain comprehensive patient records per state and federal regulations.

The role requires CPR/BLS, infection control knowledge, and ED triage experience, with continuing education credits as required by the GA Board. One year in addiction care is recommended.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in Georgia.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Knowledge of infection control, quality assurance, and patient care compliance for state licensure.
• CPR and BLS certifications.
• Experience with triaging in emergencies and assisting with medical emergencies.
• Continuing education credits as required by GA Board of Licensure.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients regarding medications used in treatment and side effects.
• Administer/dispense medications in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
• Conduct urine drug screens when needed.
• Assess new intakes, quarterly, annual, AWOL, and potential impairment.
• Record administration/dispensing transactions and ensure treatment plans are followed.
• Place, interpret, and document Mantoux tests for patients and teammates.
• Assess patient response to treatment and dosing, adjust as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate care per license.
• Counsel patients on hygiene, lab results, HIV/AIDS testing, and treatment changes.
• Maintain nursing progress notes and medical records.
• Attend team meetings and complete required training.

As a Nurse, you are responsible for providing basic medical services to patients in an outpatient addiction recovery environment; maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and providing for the safe delivery of medication in accordance with facility policy and procedures; and for maintaining thorough documentation of patient records and medical files per State and Federal regulations.

Requirements

• Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and maintain their licenses in good standing in the State ofGeorgia.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Knowledge and experience with regulations and standards including infection control, quality assurance, and patient care compliance for state licensure.
• CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) first aid and BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Experience with triaging in emergency situations, assisting with medical emergencies.
• Must maintain continuing education credits as required by the GA. Board of Licensure and organizational needs.
• One (1) year experience or knowledge in the field of drug abuse recommended.
• Must meet minimum Competency Standards as set forth in the Competencies for Nurses.

Preferred

• Two (2) years' experience with chemical addiction and/or mental disorders including psych pharmacotherapy.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients regarding medications used in the treatment setting and their side effects.
• Administer/dispense medications (i.e., Methadone, Suboxone, etc.) in accordance with State and Federal regulations, and DEA best practice guidelines.
• Conduct urine drug screens if needed.
• Conduct assessments for new intakes, quarterly, annual, awol, and possible impairment
• Ensure the adequate recording of the administration/dispensing transaction has occurred.
• Ensure the treatment plan of the physician and/or medical director is being followed.
• Place, interpret, and document Mantoux tests for patients and teammates.
• Assess patient response to treatment and medication dosage/interactions and determine appropriateness for dosing.
• Respond appropriately to emergency or unforeseen situations and provide appropriate care per license.
• Counsel patients regarding personal hygiene, abnormal lab results, HIV/AIDS testing, and all medical matters including changes in treatment.
• Document Nursing progress notes on all patients, and maintains medical records including, but not limited to, individual patient records, daily medication charts, dosage records, physician orders, etc., as required.
• Participate in case conferences, offering professional observations.
• Order medical supplies and maintain a proper inventory and record of use per regulations.
• Make appointments for patients to see physician; obtain lab workups and provide reminders to patients to ensure appointments are kept.
• Conduct Medication call backs for patients receiving take home medication
• Discuss with physicians and team important changes in patients or noted patterns of behavior affecting treatment.
• Provide referral for specialized care at local health centers (e.g., Planned Parenthood, prenatal clinic, HIV/AIDS testing sites, etc.) and follows-up on clients’ attendance and treatment.
• Assist in organizing transfers of patients to and from the program; verify medication verbally with nurse of another program.
• Possess the knowledge and understanding of how to recognize and manage an opiate overdose.
• Understand the clinical benefits and limitations of urine screens, toxicology, and other testing procedures.
• Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
