Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to support the pharmacy team in vaccine administration, prescription preparation, and high-quality patient care. The role involves working in a fast-paced retail environment, maintaining confidentiality, and delivering excellent customer service to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law, including offsite vaccination events as needed.
• Handle customer inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests under supervision.
• Contact doctors' offices to obtain or request refill prescriptions.
• Gather and enter prescription and patient information into the computer and verify accuracy.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party insurance billing and troubleshooting.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors as needed.
• Order, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy and follow all related regulations.
• Collaborate with store team to ensure excellent customer service.
• Perform other store duties including special projects as assigned.

There is occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. When working offsite for vaccination events, you may be exposed to equipment movement hazards, temperature extremes, vibrations, and dampness.
