Job summary

Mural Group seeks a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) for a travel assignment in West Virginia. Inspect structural steel welds on four silos, perform MT inspections, review WPS details, and document results on site with the weld crew. Per diem is provided and mobilization is immediate.

This role requires an active AWS CWI, SMAW inspection experience on structural carbon steel, MT proficiency (Level II preferred), and comfort working from lifts. Travel-heavy, day shift, 40 hours per week.

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) -- Structural Steel / Travel / West Virginia

We are placing two CWIs on an active structural steel modification project at a major steel production facility in Apple Grove, West Virginia. Work starts this week. Per diem included.

The project

You will be inspecting weld work on four large-scale structural steel silos -- each laid horizontal, with a 12-to-14-foot working wall. The scope is external L-profile stiffener ribs welded to ASTM A572 Grade 60 plate (3/8 to 7/16 inch). All welding is SMAW (stick), intermittent weld sequences, performed from aerial lifts. Roughly 1,850 linear feet of weld across all four silos. Inspection method is magnetic particle (MT). WPS and engineering drawings are provided and on-site.

What you will be doing

Reviewing WPS documentation, conducting MT inspections at each weld sequence, documenting results, and signing off on completed work. You will be on-site with the weld crew throughout -- this is not a desk role. Two openings total.

Requirements

• Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential -- required, include your cert number in your application
• Structural carbon steel plate inspection background -- not pipe, not sheet metal
• SMAW weld inspection experience; familiarity with intermittent weld sequences
• MT inspection experience required; Level II preferred
• Comfortable on aerial lifts; some work above 6 feet
• Available to mobilize to Apple Grove, WV immediately

• Pay: $55 to $65/hr depending on experience
• Duration: Project-based contract, active now

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
