Job summary

AdventHealth Tampa is seeking a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform imaging procedures, prepare radiopharmaceuticals, and ensure patient safety in accordance with physician orders. You will calibrate equipment, map radiopharmaceuticals, train staff, and contribute to quality improvement projects while delivering compassionate care.

A CNMT and high school diploma are required, with strong radiation safety knowledge and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment on

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Graduate of an Accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program (CNMT preferred).
Certification CNMT required or as stipulated by state/unit.

Responsibilities

Disposes of radioactive materials following radiation safety procedures.
Prepares radiopharmaceuticals, minimizing radiation exposure to workers and patients.
Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provides assistance during test procedures.
Processes cardiac function studies using a computer and records and processes results.
Maintains and calibrates radioisotope and laboratory equipment; gathers patient information for diagnostic procedures.
Trains and supervises nuclear medicine technologists or students.
Develops treatment procedures for nuclear medicine and participates in quality improvement.
Calculates, measures, and records radiation dosage per physician's prescription.
Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies using imaging equipment.
Administers radiopharmaceuticals under physician direction.
Produces images for physician interpretation.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Disposes of radioactive materials and stores radiopharmaceuticals following radiation safety procedures.
Prepares stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provides assistance during test procedures.
Process cardiac function studies using a computer and records and process results of procedures.
Maintains and calibrates radioisotope and laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning. Gathers information on patients' illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures for therapy.
Trains and supervises student or subordinate nuclear medicine technologists.
Develops treatment procedures for nuclear medicine treatment programs and participates in performance improvement projects.
Calculates, measures, and records radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of, following physician's prescription.
Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies using a camera to produce photographic or computer images.
Administers radiopharmaceuticals or radiation to patients to detect or treat diseases under the direction of a physician.
Produces computer-generated or film images for interpretation by a physician.
