Job summary

Radiant is seeking a highly motivated Nuclear Engineer to own sensor and instrumentation solutions for the Kaleidos microreactor. You will lead detector design, modeling, and environmental qualification for neutron flux monitoring and reactor safety systems, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced startup.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Nuclear Engineering, 1–2+ years of industry experience with radiation detection, and hands-on experience with MCNP/OpenMC/Serpent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering or equivalent.
• 1-2+ years in nuclear engineering with exposure to radiation detection or instrumentation.
• Experience with radiation transport methods (MCNP/OpenMC/Serpent).
• Proficiency in Python, C++, C#, FORTRAN or similar.
• Fundamental thermal-hydraulic knowledge.
• Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Own sensor and instrumentation design and analysis for in-core/ex-core detectors.
• Support detector modeling and verification using radiation transport codes.
• Evaluate sensor survivability in high-temp/high-radiation environments.
• Collaborate with reactor control and DAQ engineers to integrate sensor outputs.
• Assist in V&V of instrumentation against requirements.
• Provide cross-functional input and clear communication to engineers.
