Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Nuclear Security Officer to provide security for facilities, personnel, and assets. You will enforce security rules, conduct patrols, and support emergency responses aboard naval vessels and facilities in Newport News, VA.

The role requires the ability to meet fitness and training requirements, including radiological and nuclear security instruction, with the potential for required security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to run, kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb stairs and incline/vertical ladders.
  • Pass respirator fit test and lift and carry 40 lbs.
  • Able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions as well as at extreme heights or small confined spaces.
  • Flexible to work assigned shift on a rotating schedule.
  • Complete written and practical radiological and nuclear security training and qualify with weapons (handgun and shotgun).
  • Capable of obtaining a security clearance within a prescribed timeframe.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Role

The selected candidate will provide physical security to safeguard facilities, personnel, and property.
