Job summary

Constellation Energy Corporation in Oswego, NY is seeking a Radiation Protection Technician to evaluate radiological conditions at the nuclear plant and implement safety measures for workers and the public.

You will perform duties including access control, radiation measurement, equipment operation, training, and support during emergencies, with required NRC/ANSI standards and training. This is an on-site role with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• College-level training in physics, chemistry, radiochemistry and the measurement of nuclear radioactivity.
• Ability to read diagrams and prints, and prepare sketches and reports.
• Knowledge of reactor and power plant operation to analyze problems and calculations.
• Ability to direct the work of others.
• Must meet ANSI standards for this position.
• May be subject to NRC certification/recertification.
• Must be physically able to perform essential functions.
• Must meet NRC psychological testing regulations.
• May require validated aptitude testing.
• Completion of Radiation Safety Training including Respirator Qualifications and access control.

Responsibilities

• Control access and egress for Radiologically Controlled Areas.
• Measure radiation and contamination levels and record data.
• Operate and maintain radiation protection equipment.
• Provide radiological support through briefings and surveys.
• Provide training and oversight to personnel and lead crews.
• Process Radiation Work Permits.
• Process personnel dosimetry including issuance/return.
• Collect data, run tests and prepare reports.
• Review and contribute to procedures.
