Job summary

Cardinal Health is hiring a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician in Illinois. The role involves preparing radiopharmaceutical prescriptions, drawing doses, and performing QA tests in a regulated setting.

The position requires a valid driver’s license and may require delivering to accounts. You will work under supervision, with additional duties as assigned and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Illinois State Board of Pharmacy registration or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtaining Staff Pharmacist approval.
• Draws doses into syringe or vial.
• Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per guidelines.
• Receives, documents, and stores pharmaceuticals per DOT and company guidelines; maintains inventory records.
• Assists with labeling blood cell products and performs general lab cleanup.
• Performs clerical tasks including daily records and billing records; may deliver to accounts.
• Answers questions from customers by phone and addresses concerns.
• Works under close supervision and deviations are approved by supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Shift/Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday 5AM to 1:30PM
• Weekends, holidays and on call as needed
• Candidate must be flexible to work different days, schedules, hours, come in early, stay late, or work overtime based on business needs.

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy

Responsibilities

• Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
• Draws doses into either a syringe or vial
• Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines
• Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelinesMaintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
• Assists and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
• Performs general laboratory and facility clean up
• May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
• Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
• Speaks with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
• Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver's license
• Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle required
• Registration with the Illinois State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred
• Ability to manage up to 75 pounds
• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
• Previous IV or clean room environment experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
• Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
• Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
• Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
• Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
• May require vendor credentialing
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

Pay rate: $23.00 per hour
