The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Mercy operates imaging equipment and software to support diagnosis and treatment, while upholding radiation safety and imaging quality.

Competenze

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Sciences Program in Nuclear Medicine with completed clinical hours.
  • NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification/registry eligibility (within 2 months of eligibility).
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Find your calling at Mercy! The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates imaging equipment and software, mostly nuclear medicine imaging equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires expertise in operating specialized equipment, ensuring radiation safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards, all while prioritizing effective patient communication and safety. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist position also requires a strong commitment to patient care, technical expertise, and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.

Position Details:
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiology Sciences Program in Nuclear Medicine and required clinical hours have been completed.
  • Experience: no experience required
  • Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
  • Certification/Registration: NMTCB or ARRT (N) OR Registry eligible (achieve registry within 2 months of eligibility); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire

  • Knowledge in operating imaging equipment and using imaging software to acquire high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Skilled in effectively communicating with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and providing emotional support.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively within a healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
