Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures and radiation safety.
  • CNMT or ARRT(N) certification required.
  • BLS/Healthcare Provider certification current.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab, and radiopharmacy duties.
  • Exercise professional judgment and maintain a quality care demeanor.
  • Deliver appropriate patient care and ensure successful procedure completion.
  • Adhere to Baptist Health mission and safety programs.
  • Perform SPECT/SPECT-CT imaging and CT imaging as needed.
  • Prepare radiopharmaceutical doses and calculate patient dosages.
  • Maintain records and safety compliance per regulations.
  • Assist in venipuncture, IV access and contrast administration as required.
  • Participate in ALARA Radiation Safety Program and continuous process improvements.
  • May work at multiple facilities as needed and provide safe patient transport.

Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology
CNMT Certification (NMTCB)
ARRT(N) Nuclear Medicine Certification
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification

Position Summary

A Brief OverviewNuclear medicine technologists are direct patient caregivers. They perform dose preparation and administration functions for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purpose; perform patient procedures, process, and enhance images, and prepare images for interpreting physician to view.

ROLE: Nuclear Medicine Technician (NMT)

LOCATION:

Cardiovascular Associates (CVA Building)

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Closed Saturday and Sunday)

SHIFT: 8:30AM - 5:0PM

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and radiopharmacy functions as required. If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may also perform diagnostic CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures
  • Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and strategic imperatives
  • Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static and functional procedures required by specific studies
  • Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order
  • Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physician, as required
  • Performs all computer acquisition, and processing and documentation as required by procedure
  • Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation as outlined by written procedure or manufactures guidelines
  • Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required
  • Maintains records as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control
  • Performs all safety checks as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of radiopharmaceutical and medication administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may also administer contrast as required by guidelines or physician order
  • Prepares radiopharmaceutical doses and calculates exact patient dosages as required by law and maintains records of such
  • Assists in the administration of therapeutic radioactive materials with an authorized user
  • Participates in the corporate ALARA Radiation Safety Program
  • Ensures safety of all customers
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other
  • federal, state, and local standards
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements
  • Participates in Process Improvement activities
  • May be required to work at any facility
  • Provides safe patient transport
  • Handles, disposes, and decontaminates radioactive materials, while maintaining records of such under the regulations of the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control. Maintains a working knowledge of all procedural changes and equipment updates
  • Demonstrates professional judgment and decision-making skills as required; solicits supervisory input as appropriate
  • Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the patient studies
  • Responsible for patient and family education of the studies being performed
  • Participates in ensuring compliance with applicable regulations including but not limited to OSHA, The Joint Commission, FDA, NRC, EPA, and the Florida Department of Health.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Must have knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures, and radiation safety
  • Must meet ONE of the following in totality:
  • Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) –OR
  • Maintains current certification as an (ARRT) (N) American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine
  • Must meet ALL of the following:
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification
