Job summary

Atlantic Health in Summit, NJ is seeking a Radiopharmaceutical Technician to prepare and render radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic studies, using a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures.

Responsibilities include measuring radioactivity, calibrating equipment, and administering doses under physician direction, with strict adherence to radiation safety standards.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine required.
• Office-based work experience is preferred.

Responsible for preparing and rendering radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing variety of equipment while following prescribed procedures

Principal Accountabilities

• Mixes stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses, under direction of physician.
• Calibrates equipment.
• Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.
• Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
• Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
• Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
• Other duties as assigned

Required

QUALIFICATIONS

• HS Diploma or equivalent experience.
• Graduate of AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine required
• Employment history of working in an office- based setting is preferred.
• LEAD - Specific Certification related to position or Associates Degree/Technical Degree in related field. All licenses and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a Technician at the state (s) and/or national level. Top expert and functional mentor; possesses the most advanced knowledge of the function/family and department. Makes decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group; provides guidance to and/or assists staff on non-routine or escalated issues. Collaborates with Management in the development and validation of methods, techniques, and analytical approach. Serves as a model/mentor for team Members on technical skills.
