Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to prepare patients for examinations, assist radiologists, and ensure accurate records. You will review orders, verify patient IDs, and help train newer staff while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

The role involves cross-training and equipment upkeep in a fast-paced radiology department. The ideal candidate holds ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification, a Florida Nuclear Medicine License, and BLS/CPR.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA Accredited Educational Program for Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification required.
  • Florida Nuclear Medicine license and BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Experience with quality control and radiation safety procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for nuclear medicine examinations and assists radiologists during procedures.
  • Reviews patient records, verifies physician orders and patient identifiers prior to examinations.
  • Cross trains in other specialty areas to support workload and broaden skills.
  • Performs image quality checks and monitors images for correct patient information.
  • Trains new technologists and technical assistants as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintains equipment, performs daily quality control and area surveys, and reports malfunctions.

We welcome all healthcare professionals to join our thriving community and contribute to our pursuit for clinical excellence.Department:Job Description Summary:Position ResponsibilitiesPrepares patients for examination, e.g.: positions, executes nuclear medicine examinations, and assists radiologist/physician with patient care during procedure.Reviews patient medical record(s) to verify physician's order and patient's name & date of birth prior to examination.Cross trains in other specialty areas/departments/facilities when work load demands, to enhance skills outside assigned specialty clinical area.Inspects images for quality, and monitors all images with respect to proper patient name, date and medical record number prior to interpretation by Radiologist.Assists with training of new technologists and technical assistants in all phases of assigned procedures, as requested by supervisor/manager/director.Demonstrates competency and observes safety guidelines when operating all specialized equipment in assigned clinical area.Implements Standard Precautions on all patients, as directed by hospital policy.Adjusts to variable schedules and/or procedure techniques that may be required at times.Adheres to MSMC established Personnel Radiation Dosimeter Policy as observed by supervisor and/or reported/documented by the RSO.Reports all equipment malfunctions to lead technologist / supervisor and clinical engineering immediately.Performs Quality Control procedures on nuclear medicine equipment within the time frame specified for each.Performs Area Surveys for possible contamination at the end of each workday followed by the appropriate documentation.Maintains and stocks clinical room with appropriate supplies necessary to complete nuclear medicine examinations.Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of computer programs, particularly the EPIC and Synapse application systems.Completes exam data entry on all studies performed on a daily basis, as well as any other necessary paperwork associated with each case.Attends department staff meetings as scheduled.QualificationsLicense/Registration/CertificationMust be registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) (N) or the Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB). Must hold a current Florida Nuclear Medicine License from the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance.
