Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a full-time day shift at RWJ New Brunswick. The role involves assisting physicians with imaging procedures and ensuring high-quality imaging per protocol.

Requirements include graduating from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program, a current NJ state license, ARRT/NMTCB certification, and BLS. Sign-on bonus is available and benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Assists the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.
• Ensures all tests are performed properly and results are valid before releasing the patient.
• Calibrates the dose calibrator and performs QC on gamma cameras per department protocols.
• Explain procedures to patients clearly and obtain optimal images with prescribed parameters.
• Identify patients (inpatient and outpatient) per hospital SOP before starting procedures.
• Perform hot lab duties including handling and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals per vendor and DEP rules.

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Assists the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Must possess a current NJ State license.
• ARRT and/or NMTCB
• BLS certification required

Preferred:

• Two years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred.
• NMTCB Fusion Certification or ARRT R, CT, certification preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

This is a full time, day position -40 hours/week

Essential Functions:

• Abides by standards established by the hospital, state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Accepts special assignments from supervisor and completes them on time.
• Assists the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.
• Assures that all tests are performed properly and test results are valid and accurate prior to the release of the patient.
• Calibrates the dose calibrator and performs QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols and notifies the lead tech of any malfunctions/issues promptly.
• Explains the procedure to the patient clearly including wait times and performs the procedure assuring maximum comfort to the patient. Obtains best possible images by using prescribed technical parameters and techniques.
• Identifies the patients (both IP and OP) per hospital SOP before starting any procedure.
• Performs all hot lab related functions such as receiving, using and discarding of Radio-pharmaceuticals following/applying vendor, departmental and DEP rules and regulations strictly.
